Wednesday, 21 October 2020

OPEN AFTERNOON 1.30 & 5.30 pm

This is to explain to parents our school's philosophy, organisation and programmes. Parents will also be able to view the school in action and have queries answered by the Principal. Although the afternoon is for parents, if children wish to attend with you and your primary school has no objection, they are most welcome.

The 5.30 pm programme will be a repetition of the afternoon's programmes except of course, classroom lessons
will not be in action.

Thursday, 22 October 2020

The Year 6 children from Tokoroa North School, David Henry School, Strathmore School. Central School and Cargill Open Plan School have been invited to view programmes at Tokoroa Intermediate School in action.

Students from other schools are invited to attend, however, they will need parental support to bring them and collect them.

Wednesday, 28 October – Friday, 30 October 2020

The Deputy Principal, Mr Ron Creigh-Smith, and the Learning Support Coordinator, Mrs Jeannette Beale, and some Year 8 students from Tokoroa Intermediate School will visit the primary schools to speak to students and answer any questions.

Friday, 13 November 2020

Information concerning the placement of your child in a class for next year, on the enrolment form supplied, must be in to either your contributing school or the Intermediate by this date. This information helps with ensuring we have good placements.

The enrolment forms can be handed in and discussed during the "Open Day" on 21 October.

Wednesday, 25 November 2020 –

1.30 to 2.45 pm

All Year 6 children attending Tokoroa Intermediate School in 2021 will visit the school in the afternoon, be placed in their classes, meet their teacher and have a look around the school. The School Prospectus will be issued to all children to take home.

PLACEMENT AND GENERAL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN TO BE ENROLLED AT TOKOROA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL IN 2021

Classes for 2021 will be made up in mid November.

We have composite classes and each class has a range of academic ability. We also endeavour to ensure that there
is a balance of children from the different primary schools, an ethnic and gender (boys and girls) and year level
balance.

Primary schools provide information to assist us but we would like to take this opportunity to consult
parents/guardians of incoming students in an endeavour to make the transition from primary to intermediate school as smooth as possible for the children.

If there is information about your child you believe we should know about prior to placing them in a class for next
year, please state this on the enrolment form and return it to either your child's present school or send it straight to the Principal, Tokoroa Intermediate School. If you would prefer to discuss the information in person, please make an appointment with Mrs Mariassoucé. It is important that we know the concerns you have about your child's educational needs as we cannot move children to another class after classes have been formed. We therefore require this information by 13 November.
Information will remain confidential.

The school realises the financial burden on families early in the new year, especially families with several school
aged children. To assist with budgeting, outlined below is a guide to school costs that can be expected:

School Uniforms:  We are changing our uniform in 2021. Samples will be available on our Open Day.

                                   Uniform items can be ordered through the supplier’s website;
                                   https://uniformhub.co.nz/collections/tokoroa-intermediate
Layby options are available. Please contact us if you need assistance with the ordering
                                   process.

Stationery:              Approximately $30.00

Technology Fee:     $40.00 for the work students will bring home

Education Outside the Classroom Programme:

There is no cost to the parents, fees for EOTC are covered by the school.

These costs are approximate but will give parents a guide. If parents wish to start putting a few dollars aside each
week/month through setting up an automatic payment, please contact the school. Many parents are now using this
method of paying fees, etc.

If you have any concerns or queries please either discuss them with myself during our Open Afternoon (Wednesday, 21 October) or make an appointment through the school office.
