Dear Parents / Caregivers

As we approach the end of the school year it is important that we realise the school year does not finish until Wednesday, 20th December.  That means we ask for your assistance to ensure that all our high standards are maintained through to the end of the year.  The rules do not change.  This includes rules relating to attendance, uniform and behaviour.  It is also important that we maintain good communication between home and school at this time.

Our best wishes to our Jump Jam girls.  They will be performing in Auckland at the National Finals this Saturday.

There are many end of year activities on the agenda for classes, please look for and return promptly, notices and permission slips relating to these events.

Mufti Day

There will be a mufti day this Friday, 1st December with the proceeds going to the Tokoroa Food Bank.  In place of students bringing a dollar to wear mufti, the School Council has decided on a non-perishable food item.  All classes have been given information on what is acceptable.

Uniforms - To be donated or sold 'on behalf of'

In January we have a second hand uniform sale, which is always very popular.  For Year 8 students who are leaving at the end of this year and have no brothers or sisters coming on to Intermediate, school uniforms can be donated to the school or we will sell them on ‘behalf of parents’.  We are willing to take winter and spare uniforms now.  They must be clean (washed).  Year 8 students who are willing to donate or have their uniforms ‘sold on behalf’ can come to school on the last day of the year in mufti.  For inquiries please contact the office.

Relief Cleaner Vacancy

We have a vacancy for the position of a relief cleaner.  Work would involve cleaning classrooms from 3:10 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. approximately whenever one of our six cleaners is absent.  This position may lead onto permanent work as and when a vacancy occurs.  Please phone Brian Fisher, Deputy Principal if interested.

End of Year Socials

The end of year socials will be held on Monday, 11th December for Year 7 and Tuesday, 12th December for Year 8 in the Tokoroa Intermediate School hall.  As for all socials it is on an invitation only basis.  It is essential that overdue library books are returned, atlases and dictionaries accounted for and any outstanding money (except school fees) paid.  The Year 7 social will be from 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. and the cost will be $3.00.  The Year 8 social will be from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. and will cost $8.00 (includes supper).  A reminder that hair needs to be of their natural colour, an acceptable standard of dress and behaviour is expected.  As we are concerned about student safety, your child must be collected from the hall after the Social.
