Dear Parents / Caregivers

Paid Union Meetings - Early School Finish

A reminder that tomorrow afternoon teachers from all Tokoroa schools will be involved in a paid union meeting at Tokoroa Intermediate School.  We will provide a safe environment for bus children and any other pupils who are unable to go home for the afternoon.  I would ask that a request for any child other than a bus child to remain at school be in writing and with me before 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Phys Ed / Sports Uniform

As already stated in earlier newsletters we need your support to ensure children are in correct Phys Ed gear.

Phys Ed Participation

As we are working hard to encourage participation in all sports and Phys Ed we would ask that parents think carefully about notes excusing their child from Phys Ed / sports activities.  Currently we have a few children who are able to run around and play actively during break times but are unable to run or throw during athletics practices.  If you are writing a note could you please be very specific, e.g.  Can they take part in some of the activities?,  If they have an injured leg, can they participate in throwing events?

Fireworks

There is a complete ban on fireworks, matches, lighters, etc at school.  Under no circumstances are these items to be brought to school.  This includes purchasing and transporting via the school for use outside the school.  We will confiscate any fireworks that are brought onto the school site.

Blind Week Collection

Thank you to those staff and students who helped with the Blind Week collection on Monday night.  Your assistance was very much appreciated and around $6,400.00 was collected on the night.  This is a great effort.

Kapa Haka Noho Marae

The Kapa Haka group spent last Friday through until Sunday lunchtime at Papa o Te Aroha Marae preparing for the forthcoming PolyFest.  It was a very productive time for the group with a lot of progress made learning new routines.  The children also got the opportunity to perform in costume.

Many thanks to the Uerata family and Vyon Heke for their very generous donations of food, also to the parents who worked so hard in the kitchen all weekend and finally to Charles and Tangiwai, our tutors, who have once again shared their considerable knowledge of Kapa Haka with our children.
