Phys Ed & Sports Gear

As part of our uniform policy we ask that children always change for Phys Ed and sport. T his is a health and hygiene issue.  Students know that they must have phys ed gear for these activities.  Please ensure that your child has the correct gear for school or a note if there is a problem.

Open Day & Year 6 Visits

The Open Day yesterday and the visit by the Year 6 children from the primary schools today, were very successful. On the Open Day, Vincent Aballe, Sissy Maniapoto and Jordan Redwood gave parents their views on aspects of the school they were involved in and did this job extremely well.  A number of House Captains and Class Councillors showed parents around the school.

For the Year 6 Day, all of the Year 6’s from the primary schools spent approximately half an hour in each of the Technology-Arts rooms carrying out a “hands on” activity.  This was timetabled throughout the day with the schools arriving and leaving at different times.  Selected students from our school spent the day in the Tech-Arts rooms as leaders helping the Year 6 students.  Other students showed them around the school.  In total over fifty of our students showed excellent leadership skills over the two days and carried out their respective jobs without a hitch or having to be reminded of their responsibilities.  Congratulations to all these students.

Thank you to parents/guardians who visited.  We look forward to meeting your children in 2007 and forming a positive relationship with you over the next two years.

Blind Week Appeal

The annual community collection for Blind Week is Monday, 30 October.  This is the one time that Tokoroa Intermediate School seeks help from students to collect for charity.  Students will meet at the Senior Citizens rooms in Papanui Street at 5:15p.m.  They will go in pairs with a member of the Lions Club, Forest View High School or Tokoroa Intermediate School staff members and collect envelopes and donations.  At approximately 7:00p.m. to 7:30p.m. they will return back to the Senior Citizens for a drink and sausage before being collected by parents.
All students who volunteer will be given a Blind Collection Newsletter to take home next week, which explains in detail the organisation involved.
