Prize Giving

The annual school Prize Giving will be held next Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.  We have a long programme and will be starting at 1:00 p.m. sharp.

As it is a long programme we are conscious of a number of issues:

  • Elderly people may like to bring a thin, soft cushion to ensure greater comfort.
  • The Prize Giving is not suitable for babies or young children.  Could you please make other arrangements for them.
  • As we are often short of room could High School pupils please wait outside the hall until all adults and Tokoroa Intermediate pupils are seated.

School Reports

Students will receive their school reports immediately after Prize Giving.

2007 School Year Start Date

The 2007 school year will start on Wednesday, 7th February.  It is very important that all students start on this day.  Stationery lists are given out, class and school rules are set in place as are expectations.  Students who do not start on the first day start school on the back foot.

School Stationery 2007

The school will sell stationery at extremely competitive prices when school starts next year.  All profit from the sale of stationery goes back to the school, which benefits the students.  Stationery lists will be given out on the first day of the school year.

Board of Trustees

There will be a Board of Trustees Meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the school staffroom.

The Board of Trustees (BOT) triennial elections will be held early 2007.  Trustees have a very important role as active leaders in our school.  It is good for people interested in standing in 2007 to understand the role of a trustee, what the commitment is and what the BOT is responsible for.  We encourage interested people to attend some BOT meetings.  If you are considering this please contact me for further information.

Staffing

The Board of Trustees are finalising staff appointments at this evening’s meeting.  We are, however, losing some teachers at the end of 2006.  Miss Rachel Toy, Miss Deborah Sadler and Mrs Kirstin Smith all leave us for new positions in teaching.  We wish them well in their future careers.  Miss Toy and Mrs Smith came to us two years ago as beginning teachers and have recently graduated as fully registered teachers.  We congratulate them on this achievement.  Miss Sadler started at Tokoroa Intermediate part way through 2005.

Ms Linda Kilkolly who has been working in our Special Needs area and covering classroom release in some rooms also is moving on in 2007.  We thank her for her work with our students during the past year.

Education Outside the Classroom Money

Year 7 parents - if there is a small amount of credit left at the end of 2006 we will transfer that into your 2007 account.  Year 8 parents - we will check accounts and advise you of any credit left after final activities.  We would ask that parents collect and sign for these refunds.  If you wish to discuss this, contact me directly.

Uniforms - to be donated or sold on behalf of

A reminder that we do hold a second hand uniform sale in January. We are conscious that the two published dates in the prospectus are quite late hence we have added an extra time. The sale times will be:
Monday, 29th January, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 31st January, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, 1st February, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Food Technology room. For Year 8 students who are leaving at the end of this year and have no brothers or sisters coming on to Intermediate, school uniforms can be donated to the school or we will sell them on ‘behalf of parents’. We are willing to take winter and spare uniforms now. They must be clean (washed). Year 8 students who are willing to donate or have their uniforms ‘sold on behalf’ can come to school on the last day of the year in mufti. For inquiries please contact the office.
