Dear Parents / Caregivers School OperettaThe cast of approximately one hundred and twenty students and a number of staff have been busy rehearsing for our 2006 production “The Dracula Rock Show”. This week the students are rehearsing all week with matinees for primary schools being held this Friday and next Monday. Public performances are next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. See the Operetta Poster for additional information. We hope family, grandparents, uncles and aunties, cousins, neighbours, etc attend and support the students’ efforts. We have kept cost to a minimum to encourage this. The Operetta is planned to finish at approximately 8:45p.m. We would like to encourage all students to enjoy the Operetta and ask that the usual high standards are maintained. Speech Competition The school speech finals were held in our school hall last Friday. The adjudicator was Ms Vicki Wolfe, Assistant Head of Department English at Forest View High School. There were six finalists in Year 7 and five finalists in Year 8. Ms Wolfe commented on the high calibre of all speakers but there can only be one winner. In Year 7 this was Letitia Taikato with her speech entitled the Circle of Life. The winner of Year 8 was Gideon Letoga who spoke of his pride in being Samoan. Board of Trustees Meeting The Board of Trustees Meeting scheduled for tonight has been postponed until next Wednesday, 20th Sepember, 6:00 p.m. in the school staffroom. We hope to have business completed to allow Board of Trustee members to attend the Operetta. My apologies for any inconvenience. School Summer Uniform A reminder that the change over into summer uniform is the beginning of Term 4 and all students are required to be in summer uniform by Labour weekend, Monday, 23rd October. Sexuality Education Programme This programme for 2006 is now completed. We would hope that the three sessions stimulated discussion with you as parents / caregivers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our outside providers for their input and the effort they have made to make this programme available. I would also like to thank Mr Edwards for his organisation of the programme. Soccer The Tokoroa AFC Junior Soccer Competition came to a conclusion on Saturday. Tokoroa Intermediate entered three teams and all players made very good improvements to both their individual and teamwork skills. The three teams were all in the same Open division and all had a pretty good season. The ‘Red Dragons’ eventually won the trophy for First Place after working hard to keep Amisfield at bay. The ‘Black Dashers’ and the ‘Red Vipers’ played off for third and fourth place and as they drew 2 all in their final game, both teams were placed third equal. A pretty good result all round. Well done to all the players. My thanks go to those regular parents and supporters who have cheered the players along on all those grey, cold wet or fine and sunny Saturday mornings and who have helped out by washing the team strips. Jan Stobie Teacher In Charge Netball A BIG thank you to the coaches, managers and parents who showed their
support and offered their time and services during the netball season.
The netball season ran smoothly, all teams having success and a great year. School Fees / Donation & Paper Fee A reminder to parents that this fee / donation is now due. School fee / donation is $50.00 per child or $90.00 if you have two students attending Tokoroa Intermediate School and $5.00 for the paper fee. This money is required to run our present programmes.
