Please remember to return your preference for which group you wish your child to attend.  If you do not make a selection we will place your child in one of the groups.  Remember also if you wish to have your child excused from this subject you must inform the school by returning the reply slip in last week’s newsletter.

High School Open Day

Tokoroa High School have their Open Day for Year 8’s this Friday, 18 August.  Parents and members of the community are invited to join the Year 8 Open Day.  An Information and Enrolment Evening for Parents / Guardians of Year 8 students will be next Wednesday, 23 August, 7:00 p.m. in the Tokoroa High School library.

School Cross Country

The school Cross Country for 2006 was held on the school circuit on Thursday, 10 August.  A perfect Tokoroa day provided great conditions for the running of this annual event.  An excellent group of supporters, parents and friends of the school turned out to enjoy the event and support their children.  Congratulations to all those who participated in this challenging event and earned valuable house points.

It is of interest to note that James Sutherland improved from eleventh last year to win the Senior Boys race.  Other big improvers were Jason Harris-Simiona and Axel Kingi with Daniel Dobbyn and Brendon Newport running consistent races.

In the Senior Girls, Jessica Ria, Nicole Bartie Joanna Kepa (4th to 3rd), Leimoani Makekau (5th) and Laura Clark (6th) ran consistently. Acacia Jessop (4th), Ella Murray (7th), Lisa Amohia (9th) and Samantha Miller (20th to 10th) all made great personal improvements. Congratulations on your efforts.

A team will now be picked to compete against the other Waikato Intermediate and Middle Schools at Porritt Stadium Hamilton on Tuesday, 22 August.   We wish these people good luck.

Milo Netball Discovery Day

Sixteen girls were chosen to attend the Milo Netball Discovery Day which was held on Friday, 11th August in Taupo.  The girls were great ambassadors of our school and enjoyed a day full of netball drills, learning new skills and they even got to meet Silver Fern Anna Scarlet.  Congratulations to Jessica Ria and Sissy Maniapoto who were also nominated for the New Zealand Milo Netball Girl of the year.
