Dear Parents / Caregivers EARLY FINISH – Thursday, 27 July Students Leaving the Grounds During School Hours For safety reasons, children going home for lunch or leaving the school for any reason must either: 1) Sign out at the school office and back into school again on their return. They will only be allowed to leave the school with parent permission for a bonafide appointment. 2) Lunch passes - these are only issued on receipt of a note from a caregiver for a child to go to their own home for lunch, not to go to shops or to another child’s home. These are not new rules but have been in place for some time to ensure your child is safe. Attendance Thank you to all those parents who are helping us to lift the attendance rates across the school. One important aspect of schooling is actually being present. Please continue to support your child by making sure they are at school unless they are sick. We have noticed a small group of students who have a pattern of absence usually either a Monday or Friday. If your child fits into this category please help us to help them by ensuring regular attendance. NSW Results in Mathematics and Science Earlier this year a number of our students sat examinations in these two key curriculum areas. The results for both groups were very pleasing with some exceptional results in mathematics. Well done to all participants with particular congratulations to: Mathematics High Distinction – Josh Tiro (Year 8) Distinction - Vincent Aballe, Cindy Nguyen (Year 8) Mikaela Keir, Ryotaro Wright (Year 7) Credit - Kahleigh Ahomiro, Kalem Ames, Jake Belfield, Micah Berghan, Julius Mata-Daniels, Levon McCloskey, Troy Smith-Holley, Nicholas Totton, Lydia Wairua and James Sutherland (Year 8). Valuable Items We are noticing that some children are still bringing to school valuable items from home. CD players, walkmans, cameras, etc are not the sort of items a child needs at school. Please make sure these items stay at home. We cannot be responsible when valuable items go missing. Please be aware of what your child is bringing to school. Cellphones are currently allowed to be brought to school but must be handed in at the school office before the start of the school day and collected again after school. These rules are in place for the protection of all the children in our school. Operetta There are a number of costumes to be made for this year’s production. Any parents who have sewing machines and would be willing to assist Mrs Henry with these would be most welcome. Please ring the office or send a message with your child if you are able to assist. Forest View High School Production The Forest View High School Production that we were to attend on Tuesday afternoon has been postponed to next Monday afternoon. Rooms 5,6,7& 8 will not attend as they have swimming and classes scheduled with Technology will not attend. Tritons Goldfields Trial
