Dear Parents / Caregivers

Attached to today’s newsletter is our school Uniform, Hair and Jewellery Policy for your information.

It is good to see the large number of our students involved in a wide range of activities.  Anecdotal evidence would suggest that children who are busy with a wide range of activities seem to be more focussed hence have more success.  The key is, of course, to have a good balance – enough activities to maintain motivation and have time to relax but not too many so as to cause stress.

Currently many of our students are very busy with sports, Kapa Haka, operetta, and academic work.  My thanks to all those teachers and parents who are working with our students in their own time.

Waikato Intermediate Schools' Hockey

Yesterday our turf hockey team travelled to Hamilton to compete in the annual Waikato Intermediate Interschools Hockey Tournament.  Despite some very tough and challenging games our team came runners up in their pool and fourth overall.  All players performed to their personal best and were well deserving of their final placing.  During the presentation of the certificates special mention was made of our positive supporters in particular Mr Tiare whose unfailing support for all players didn’t go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated.  Sincere thanks to Mr Tiare for driving the mini van and to the parents who assisted with transport – Mrs Ria, Mrs Makekau, Mr Amohia and Mr Chettleburgh.

The turf team was:
Lisa Amohia, Tayjana Brown, Laura Clark, Jesse Chettleburgh, Jason Harris, Levon McCloskey, Ben McKenzie, Te Maioha Makekau, Giselle Paaki, Chris-Arne Patena, Daemon Placid, Jordan Pye and Jessica Ria.
