Patena Congratulations to this year’s Team Leaders. Telecom Science Roadshow Next Thursday and Friday some classes will be attending the Telecom Science Roadshow at Tokoroa High School. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to get hands on some new and innovative science and technology experiments and activities. School programmes do not allow for all classes to attend. For those who will be going there is a cost of $5.00. Classroom teachers will advise their students. Relief Cleaner Vacancy We have a vacancy for the position of a relief cleaner. Work would involve cleaning classrooms from 3:10 p.m. to approximately 5:50 p.m. whenever one of our six cleaners is absent. This position may lead onto permanent work as and when a vacancy occurs. Please phone Brian Fisher, Deputy Principal, if interested. Gwynne Shield Trials The Tritons Rugby Club is holding a trial to select the 2006 South Waikato Gwynne Shield team on Sunday, 14 May, 10:00 a.m. at the Tokoroa Memorial Sportsground. The Gwynne Shield competition is restricted to players under 13 years old that attend either a full primary or intermediate school and are less than 54kgs on the Tournament Opening Day. Players can weigh heavier than 54kgs for the trial however, players would need to lose 1 or 2kg to qualify for the weigh in on Opening Day. Care needs to be taken because some boys are unable to lose this weight. Boots and mouth guards are required. Best & Most Improved Books Each week the School Council is responsible for selecting a Best and Most Improved Book from Year 7 and Year 8. This is only for work presentation. Each week the school councillors take one Best and one Most Improved book from their class to the Council meeting. Different books are looked at each week to ensure coverage of all subjects, e.g. Week 1 – Social Studies, Week 2 – English, Week 3 – Maths, etc. Phil Straw PRINCIPAL
