Dear Parents / Caregivers

Congratulations to our House Captains who were announced at last Friday’s assembly.  The House Captains, along with Class Councillors and Team Leaders, are part of our student leadership programme.  These children will carry out a range of leadership roles in the school.  The process for selecting our student leaders does start in their Year 7 class where children will be identified to take on these roles in their second year at Tokoroa Intermediate.

Class Councillors will be announced at this Friday’s assembly.

As the end of the term approaches we are noticing that some students are becoming quite tired. Please help your child to make the most of their school day by:
  • Ensuring they have enough rest to function during the school day
  • Eat an adequate breakfast to ensure they will be able to work properly
  • Have a suitable lunch for the time they are at school
  • Have all the necessary stationery items to work.
I do appreciate that many young adolescent children will try to skip meals, stay up late, etc.  We do need to ensure that they have every opportunity to be successful and these four simple things will help.

Last Day of Term 1

Thursday, 13 April is the last day of the first Term.  The Term will finish at the normal time on Thursday.

Winter Uniform

The end of the first term is not very far away.  At the beginning of Term 2 students are required to be in winter uniform.  There is a two-week “change over period”.

Winter uniform is as follows:
Boys
    White roll neck skivvy
  • Grey summer shorts or grey woollen shorts.
  • Black or brown lace up shoes (not track shoes) and grey socks with two red bands.
  • Red V neck woollen or acrylic jersey.
Girls
  • Grey skirt or culottes in same pattern as the summer uniform.
  • White roll neck skivvy.
  • Black or brown lace up shoes (not track shoes) and white ankle or below the knee socks.
  • Red V neck woollen or acrylic jersey or cardigan.
Optional for Boys and Girls - Red and grey wet weather track suit, available from the school for $115.00 (jackets - $75.00, pants - $40.00, can be purchased separately).
A reminder about tracksuits
Please order these as soon as possible as we sometimes run out of certain sizes, particularly large and small.  These students need to have them specially made. Ring the office for further details.
Optional for Boys and Girls
School monogrammed red polar fleece top as supplied by Tokoroa Mens and Boyswear.

Board of Trustees Annual Meeting & Monthly Meeting

The annual meeting followed by the monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held next Wednesday, 12 April, 7:00 p.m. in the school staffroom.  Everyone welcome.

Supporting your child in the 2 ‘E’s (Eating & Exercise)
When: Tonight, 5 April Time: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Where: Tokoroa Intermediate School Hall
What: Displays, ideas, activities and korero with experts about healthy eating and exercise for your child(ren).
