Dear Parents / Caregivers

Congratulations to our touch teams; they both performed very creditably last week.  They also gained excellent reports regarding their fair play.  Special congratulations to the boy’s team, runners up in their competition, and to Jared Wilson for being named player of the tournament.

Our new polar fleece top is available at Tokoroa Men’s & Boys Wear.  We have, with the help of the retailer, managed to keep the price to $39.95 including the monogram.

We have had a number of problems with students bringing unsuitable items to school.  There is a current policy statement that stresses that students must not bring to school any item that could be used as an offensive weapon.  I would also like to point out that students must not bring to school items that are illegal for them to have, e.g. cigarettes, tobacco, drugs, alcohol.  I would ask that you make sure you are aware of the things your child has and help us to keep all children at our school safe.  As a final thing in this area, please make sure your child does not bring valuable items to school.  Teachers cannot be responsible for these items if they are lost or broken.  Thank you for your co-operation in this area.

On a brighter note, House Captains will be announced at assembly on Friday.  It is pleasing to be part of discussions about our school leaders.  Class Councillors will be announced at assembly in Week 9.

Extension Programmes

Our Language (English), Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Music extension programmes are now underway.  These programmes take place on Friday mornings.  Mrs Long takes Extension Language, Mr Knapman – Extension ICT and Mrs Kingsley – Music.  The Extension Maths programme taken by Mr Fisher is also underway.  Students attend Extension Maths lessons from Monday to Thursday.

Te Reo Classes

These started two weeks ago and are held each Friday morning.  It is pleasing to see the number of students attending and the conscientious way they are working in the programme.
