Dear Parents / Caregivers
Safety on the Way Home Professional Development Year 7 staff will be involved in a Numeracy Workshop next Tuesday afternoon. Year 8 will also be involved in professional meetings. School will finish early on Tuesday, 21 March. Children will be dismissed at 2:10p.m. on this day. Bus children will be supervised if you are unable to collect them. Thank you for your co-operation with this. Settling-in Reports These will be given out to students to take home tomorrow. The Settling in Reports are not an academic report. They indicate how well the children have settled into Intermediate this year. After reading the Settling in Reports I was pleased to note that the vast majority of Year 7 students have settled into Intermediate School without any problems and our Year 8 students are settling to their new classes and looking forward to the extra responsibility Year 8 brings. School Photographs A reminder that if students want either class or individual photographs the order envelopes and money must be handed in by 8:50a.m. on Friday. N.B. The correct money must be placed in the envelope supplied (the school does not handle the money so change cannot be given). Cheques must be made out to Photolife Studios Ltd. Board of Trustees Meeting Tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the staffroom. Agendas available from the school office. Waikato Intermediate Schools Cricket Competition Our 1st X1 cricket team travelled to Hamilton to play in the Waikato Inter Schools competition. Many of the boys had not played a great deal of cricket before and, most, never at this level. Despite their inexperience, they played very well and continued to improve with each game they played. We played three games and had three losses but the boys enjoyed the day, behaved excellently and showed excellent sportsmanship. Raniera Coxhead, Jake Belfield and Daemon Placid batted very well with Raniera having to retire for 35 in one game. Many thanks to James Coxhead for driving the van and Leanne Sutherland for providing her car for transport. We would also like to thank Jason Jowett for coaching the boys after school and umpiring for us yesterday. Cath MacPherson TIC Waikato Intermediate Schools Cricket Kapa Haka Group Placed 3rd at Manu Ariki On Saturday, 11 March our school Kapa Haka group; Taku Waenga O Tokoroa travelled to Manu Ariki near Taumaranui to compete in the Manu Ariki National Culture Festival. Tutored by Tangiwai Amopiu and Charlie Tepana, twenty four members of last years successful group spent many hours practicing over the past two weeks in order to perfect their routines. The hard work put in by the children and their tutors saw the group receive a well deserved 3rd equal placing in the Junior Section. As there were twelve groups from many parts of the North Island performing in this section, our children’s performance and placing is a direct result of the commitment and talent our tutors offer children doing Kapa Haka at our school.
