| Newsletter - 20th December, 2005 - Term 4 - No11 | ||||||||||||||||
Dear Parents / Caregivers This is our final newsletter for 2005. School will finish at
approximately 12:15p.m. on Thursday, 22 December. There will be no
buses on this day. I f this creates a problem for any parents, please
contact the office. Prize Giving
Prize Giving starts at 1:00p.m. Our Guest Speaker is Kevin Mealamu.
Seating arrangements will have the staff and guests on stage. Parents
and family will be at the back of the hall on forms. There will also
be forms on the verandah and standing room on the verandah and in the foyer
as in the past. As the main focus of our Prize Giving is for parents
to share in the successes of their children, high school students will need
to wait outside the hall until all adults and Tokoroa Intermediate pupils
are seated. Prize Giving is not suitable for babies or young children.
Could you please make other arrangements for them. You may like to
bring a thin, soft cushion for greater comfort. Reports Students will receive their school reports straight after Prize Giving. 2006 School Year Start Date The school year for 2006 starts on Tuesday, 7 February. It is important that students start on this day and do not extend their holiday. Stationery lists are given out, setting of school rules and expectations, etc, take place. Students who do not attend on the first day of the year start school on the back foot. School Stationery The school will sell stationery at extremely competitive prices when school starts next year. All profit from the sale of stationery goes back to the school, which benefits the students. Stationery lists will be given out on the first day of the school year. A list of the basic stationery will be available from the office from 31 January 2006. There are set exercise books students require. Uniforms - to be donated or sold on behalf of In January we have a second hand uniform sale, which is always very popular. For Year 8 students who are leaving at the end of this year and have no brothers or sisters coming on to Intermediate, school uniforms can be donated to the school or we will sell them on ‘behalf of’ parents. We are willing to take winter and spare uniforms now. They must be clean (washed). Year 8 students who are willing to donate or have their uniforms ‘sold on behalf’ can come to school on the last day of the year (Thursday 22nd) in mufti. For inquiries please contact the office. The second hand uniform sale will take place in the Home Economics Food Room on Wednesday, 25 January from 10:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. and Thursday, 26 January from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30p.m. I will also be on site for any enrolment enquiries. Staffing 2005/6 We are still finalising staffing for next year with two positions being finalised over the next few days. I would like to thank Miss Ritchie for her service to the school since 2002. We wish her well in her new position at Bohally Intermediate, Blenheim. Mr Gibson joined our staff at the beginning of 2005. He is moving to Hamilton to live. I thank him for his work in Room 3 and wish him all the best at Westmount School next year. Mr Barton who has been doing some part time work for us in 2005 will also be moving to Hamilton in 2006. We thank him for his efforts and wish him well for the future. I would also like to personally thank all the staff and community at Tokoroa Intermediate School for their support and welcome this term. Alberico's Restaurant Sponsorship Thank you to Alberico’s for providing vouchers for the “Student of the Month” as published in the South Waikato News. We appreciate the generosity of local businesses in supporting the achievement of our students. Phil Straw Principal
