Dear Parents / Caregivers
Welcome back to the last Term of 2005. I hope both students and staff
had a well earned rest and are refreshed ready for a busy Term 4.
Thank you all for the welcome to Tokoroa Intermediate School. I was
very impressed by the singing of the whole school and the Kapa Haka group in
particular. The manners and general demeanour of the students was
excellent. Thank you.
I am currently working to get to know the students and staff at Tokoroa
Intermediate. Please feel free to call and introduce yourself to me.
Also I hope you take the opportunity to meet staff and myself at the Open
Day next Tuesday, 18 October (1:15p.m. & 7:30p.m.), this will also give you
the chance to see the achievements of our students in 2005.

Elizabeth Drive Entrance to SchoolI have been asked to
remind parents to stop cars well clear of the Elizabeth Drive entrance to
school and the pedestrian crossing. You need to ensure you are clear
of the yellow lines before you stop. I would also remind children to
always use the crossing. This is a very dangerous section of the road
and we ask for your co-operation to ensure all children using this area are
safe.

AttendanceTokoroa Intermediate continues to be part of an initiative
to improve attendance rates. This initiative involving the Ministry of
Education, Tokoroa Truancy Service, Tokoroa Police and the school is aimed
at improving school attendance. It has been having a positive effect
and it is important that this does continue. It is imperative that
children attend every day unless there is a genuine reason (i.e. sickness)
for non-attendance. Regular attendance is also important as children
who miss parts of units invariably struggle and are on the ‘back foot’ in
their classrooms. Please phone the office on 886 7687 if your child is
going to be absent from school.
