Dear Parents / Caregivers
I indicated in an earlier newsletter that we had received our unconfirmed
(draft) Education Review Office report and when our confirmed report arrived
I would make parents aware of the contents of it.
Attached to today’s newsletter is a copy of the statement ERO has produced
for parents and the community which is a summary of the report. An important
phrase “Tokoroa Intermediate is a high performing school that ….”. High
performing school is the term used in ERO reports to describe schools placed
in the top band of educational institutions they review. The full
report is available at the office for parents to view. The Report
includes twenty nine areas of “Good Performance” in Reading, Maori and
Pacific Island education, Technology and Information, Landscaping (Library
and Information Technology). Over the next four weeks I will include
passages from the ERO report in our newsletter.

HockeyYesterday the turf hockey team travelled
to Hamilton to play in the Waikato Intermediate Schools Hockey Tournament.
Although the team didn’t feature in the finals the players can all be proud
of their efforts. Overall skill levels improved with each game as
players started implementing skills learnt at training and as they realised
they were just as capable as their opposition.
A special thank you to Mr Tiare for driving the mini van and Mr Brown for
helping with transport and also to the supporters who travelled over to
watch the games.
The team was: Chris-Arne Patena, Morgan Pourau, Daemon Placid, Levon
McCloskey, Trent Main, Ross Gardiner, Crawford Gardiner, Fraser Flutey, Atai
Daniels, Tayjana Brown, Kamryn Brown, Lisa Amohia and Zach Amohia.

A selection of Tokoroa Intermediate student pastel artwork is on display in
the town library from last Friday until the end of June. If you are
near or visiting the library, take the time to have a look at the display,
especially if your child’s work is exhibited.

School will finish early next Tuesday to enable teachers to spend the

be a half hour lunchtime and school will finish at 2:00 p.m. Bus
students who cannot be collected by parents will be able to remain at school
until the buses arrive.

School Uniforms
There is a reasonably large group of students who come to school without
jerseys or jackets. In the cold and wet weather we are now experiencing,
this is a recipe for colds and flu. We encourage all parents to make
sure their children have suitable clothing to come to school in and are able
to wear during the day.
